I can relate to the struggles Nika went through, so glad she found her "Dr. House". This is a spot on representation of living life with undiagnosed disease, for those who suffer. Terrific book about a strong woman dealing with severe illness and trying to still find love and optimism. Ms. Beamon's writing is witty, painful and filled with raw honesty and humor. I couldn't put it down once I started reading her amazing story.
Wow! It's amazing how someone could be misdiagnosed by so many doctors. The book was hard to put down once I began reading it because I wanted to know the diagnosis as well . My heart goes out to Ms. Beamon and anyone else who suffers from this type of disease. Misdiagnosed is an eye-opener.

The story was very interesting but did not need the graphic descriptions of her sexual exploits. It added nothing to the story, and did not need to be there.
A most intriguing look at Ms. Beamon's unrelenting search for a diagnosis for her collection of life altering symptoms. Although well wriiten, for the most part, I was extremely put off to read not one, but two explicit sex scenes in the book. This is not some bodice ripper novel about sex and romance. This was supposed to be a serious work of non fiction about one woman's search for an answer to her medical mystery. I found the tawdry, detailed sexual encounters to be totally superfluous to the story. Do I really need to know what sexual position they used or how big her partner was? These two portions of the book ruined it for me. (Seeing where the second encounter was going, I admit to skipping over it) I am not against sexual content in a book, but only when it enhances the story. In this case, the details could have been excluded with only a brief mention. This would have been a 4 star book but the inclusion of these unnecessary scenes brought it down from being a serious search for medical answers to a cross between a hot chic lit book and a medical bio. Sorry, the loss of credibility was just too big.
This book is very interesting. A must read if you have had a medical mystery disease. Nika is slowly deteriorating and spends much time and money looking for a cure or at least a diagnosis of her illness.
